lately i have witnessed:

1. a group of jostling children standing in single-file line in a front yard of minimum-wage migrant worker number H23RQQ0, connected by their frail skeletal structures hand-in-hand. they were waiting to crawl into the giant red mouth of an inflatable frog with jagged jagged teeth and jump on his innards.

2. a flock of angry grackle birds black and high in the grey grey reaches. i have raced them down the long field-road in east abilene. they won, but only because i didn't have my slingshot.

4. mermaids. mumble to them under your breath while mr. and mrs. hoover next door hang their kitty cats on the clotheswire to the tune of the 1920's and wait for the day when you will return to the twilight once more; and this time the lonesome silence will be glorious. the movement in my brain tells me it’s all green and the rhythm will pull everything over into smooth stormy july and ethereal coupled patterns, but that’s just a personal predilection. there are airplane streaks in the sky and races on the moon and i was on the sad empty lawn divided with fence posts this afternoon (and a bird poopied near my feet).
